Do you take care off payroll services?
Yes we take care of FICA, workers compensation and taxes
What positions does ROCS fill?
Administrative, Receptionist, IT related, Accounting, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Engineering
How do you make money?
We don't mark up based on percentage like other agencies do. We charge a flat fee of $5 over the employees pay plus 20% for payroll costs. Our direct hire fee is 1/5 of the first year salary and includes a 120 day guarantee.
Why would I go through you when I can go to the school directly?
We suggest companies going through the school all the time; but it takes lots of resources and time to really establish a strong relationship with schools. We have a strong presence on campus with our word of mouth, counselors, professors, and various clubs on campus.
What is the process?
We first like to come out and meet with you to get a feel for the environment and company culture. Then once we have a job opening we start our recruiting process.
What is your screening process?
- Meet with the candidates on campus through various recruiting efforts
- Have an initial phone screening
- Then once we have the job opening we have them come into our office in Fairfax to interview
- Once we have screened out all the candidates we will send over a few select candidates for you to review
- Then we can arrange for the phone and formal interview
- We check references and can do background checks
How does the 120 day guarantee work?
First we replace the candidate, if doesn't work out then we prorate the difference.
How do you compare to the other agencies?
Process / experience 0-5 years / pricing (flat rate)
Are students only able to work during the summer and school breaks?
Not at all, our students are able to work year round.
How many hours can students typically work in a week?
Our students can work anywhere from 5 to 40+ hours a week. Many choose to take night classes or early morning classes to allow them to work a normal M-F 8-5 job.
Can we convert a student into a permanent employee, what does it cost?
You can bring our students on as permanent employees at any point. You will receive a $2 "Intern to Grad" credit for every hour worked by the student as an intern. This credit is then applied to our "Grad Direct" fee which is 1/5 of the first year expected salary.
Do I have to sign a contract up front?
Nope, not unless you hire a student. Who wants to deal with extra paperwork?
What if the student doesn't work out, is there a guarantee?
Yes, we offer an industry leading 120-day guarantee. This means, if the student doesn't work the full 120 days, we'll prorate your account and issue a refund immediately (if the option of replacing the student hasn't been fruitful on our part).
We already have an internship program, how can ROCS help?
Well, if you have an internship program, that's great. To help diversify the amount of students coming in, hire a college student to do your Temporary, PT jobs, or Job Share Programs. This way, you're expanding your net to find the best students.
Why should I use ROCS instead of a temp service or other resource?
ROCS is here specifically for college students and recent grads with up to five years of experience. We'd like to think we serve a specific niche of students who are eager to gain some firsthand experience in "the real world."
Is there any commitment when job is submitted?
Of course not. When you go to the store with an item up to the register, you're not required to buy it, right? Well, unless you've taken a bite out of it.
I need someone "yesterday" can ROCS help me?
Depending on the position, we can sometimes fill a position the same day.
How long does it take to fill a job?
If we knew, we'd be palm readers (and not in the staffing business). However, we can tell you that depending on the position, it varies from a day to a few weeks. For more technical positions, it can take longer.
Why shouldn't I go directly to a university career services office, it's free?
If you want to save money, by all means, check out the local university or college career services. However, time is money and developing a relationship with Career Services - the right way - takes more than posting a job online. In our 5 years of existence, we've fostered great relationships with career services, allowing your company to benefit.
Is ROCS really owned by college students?
Yes, ROCS was formed by 2 George Mason University students in 2003.
Are you affiliated with any university?
No. Although we work closely with counselors, our company is completely separate from universities and colleges.
