Our client is a nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.
A Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator (VRC) recruits local business and community leaders throughout a defined geographic area and invites them to participate in a local fundraising event called a "Lock-Up." The VRCs only responsibility is to recruit the participants. MDA provides the VRCs with leads, scripts and necessary training and coaching. This is a goal-oriented position. MDA sets the recruitment goals for each event based upon the number of businesses in the area where the event will take place. VRCs are required to meet the recruitment goals that are set.
A Lock-Up is a national MDA fundraising event where business and community leaders agree to become "jailbirds" and raise "bail" money though their business and personal contacts. On the day of the event, the "jailbirds" are picked up at work, brought to the mock jail (usually held at a hotel or upscale restaurant) where they are sentenced, receive their souvenir mug shot and turn in the money they have raised. While they are there they network with other business professionals and gain exposure for their company. We ask for at least an hour, however when they are ready to go, we will take them back to work.
VRC's are NOT Customer Service Reps or Telemarketers! They ARE presenting an opportunity for the business community to network with each other and have a lot of fun while helping others.
Please follow the instructions carefully. We will delete application if not completed!
Hi Matt Smith. My name is (your name) and I am calling because you are one of Alexandria's "Most Wanted"! As a member of this special group of community leaders, you have been charged with having a BIG HEART and a FUN warrant has been issued for your arrest! But don't worry! Your sentence is really light and will be a great time! You've been sentenced to serve one hour behind bars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Wednesday, June 23rd at Residence Inn. It's an exclusive fundraising and networking event to help children and adults with muscular dystrophy here in the Alexandria area.
Let me tell you a little more about the event. All you have to do is choose a time of 10am,11am, and 12pm on Wednesday, July 23rd. On that day MDA officers will pick you up at work and whisk you off to our luxury jail site at the Residence Inn. Make sure you look sharp because when you arrive, you'll have your mugshot taken and we'll be serving you MDA's version of bread and water. You won't be alone in jail, there will be tons of other top executives and community leaders there for you to network with. It is a lot of fun and for a great cause.
