Duties and Responsibilities
- Under direction of the Albuquerque, NM Area MU Coordinator, work with:
- IHS National MU-IPC Team
- National Indian Health Board (NIHB) and State Regional Extension Centers (RECs)
- IHS, Area, and Tribal Facility MU Coordinators and MU-IPC Teams, and other I/T/U leadership
- CMS Medicare-Medicaid program and State Medicaid programs
- Tribes/Tribal Organizations supporting MU in their facilities
- Under direction of the Area Coordinator, maintain ongoing communication with state agencies to determine state-specific requirements for health information exchange (HIE) and Medicaid EHR Financial Incentive programs. Communicate state requirements to area and national IHS OIT.
- Assist facilities with using the tools that will be added to RPMS EHR for reporting of MU measures, including clinical quality measures and assist with reporting the information as required to CMS and/or the states. Assist facilities not using RPMS EHR with information about the measures that must be reported in order to demonstrate MU.
- Help facilities determine which incentives they should apply for and whether they meet eligibility requirements.
- Stay abreast of changes to and clarifications of Federal guidance regarding meaningful use and EHR certification criteria.
- Giving presentations on-site between New Mexico and Colorado facilities
Qualifications and/or Experience
- Demonstrated skill in written and oral communications and presentations including communication for select target audiences as well as mass communication.
- Experience working with medical providers and internal and external officials in providing consultative interaction and advisory recommendations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard workplace software including Microsoft Office Suite and Visio as well as remote access technology including Virtual Private Network (VPN), Webex, videoconferencing, etc.
Education
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience with emphasis on health care or health information technology
