Position Summary
A mid-sized (300 employee) software company is looking for candidates for a IT Help Desk - Tier II position. Candidates would be responsible for handling customer questions and issues about the company's suite of applications.
Candidates must be able to solve customers' technical problems, functionality issues, and implementation difficulties with minimal to no supervision. The ability to use standard operating procedure in order to troubleshoot issues with databases and networks is also required. Must also be able to effectively document and communicate the issues with other department members. Position offers room for career growth and development.
Additional Functions
- Maintains Test environment, Evaluation Site, and FTP Site
- Maintains client records and maintenance records
- Represents the company at trade shows, conferences, seminars and recruitment activities
Required Qualifications
- Superior communication skills both written and verbal
- Three (3) years in customer support positions, preferable in support of larger, enterprise-level applications
- Degree in Computer Science or Information Management, Vendor certifications (MSCE, Oracle DBA, etc.) or equivalent experience
- Two (2) or more years performing any or all of the following:
- Troubleshooting issues using SQL Query language
- Good understanding of the fundamentals of RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.)
- Network installation and troubleshooting
- Support of large or enterprise-level applications
- Experience in the use and configuration of Application Servers (Weblogic, WebSphere, Oracle AS, JBoss, etc)
- Experience in the use and configuration of Web Servers (IIS, Apache, etc)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with at least one major CRM application (Siebel, Remedy, Clarify, etc.) and on major ACD system (Nortel, Lucent, 3Com, etc.)
- Experience developing Java and J2EE applications
- Good understanding of JSPs, Servlets and EJBs and ability to troubleshoot production issues
- Exposure or experience reading Object Oriented code (C++, Java, etc.)
