We are a small established construction company and general contractor based out of Manassas, VA looking for a bright, friendly, and team-oriented person to join our accounting team! As a construction accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing financial records, budgets, and expenses for our local construction projects.
Responsibilities of the Accounting Assistant:
Assist the project team in the administration of all project-related accounting functions
Following established accounting policies and procedures
Contributes to the company’s goal of providing the best customer service experience to our clients and partners.
Monthly reconciliation of all intercompany accounts
Reports to the Accounting Manager and/or the Project Executives
- Maintain and update financial records for construction projects, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and expenditures, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Track project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead expenses.
- Collaborate with project managers and contractors to gather cost information and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare cost estimates for construction projects and assist in budget planning.
Qualifications of the Accounting Assistant:
Associate/Bachelor of Science in Accounting and/or Finance is preferred
Two to five years of accounting or operations experience is preferred
Experience in the commercial construction field is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to multi-task, handling and prioritizing multiple duties in a deadline-driven environment
Enjoys working with numbers and people; must exhibit excellent customer service skills
Collaborative, flexible and demonstrates excellent teamwork ability
Exhibits a positive attitude with a passion for our industry
Ability to actively participate in Team activities
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, etc…)
Notary Public certification is a plus
