Accountant Job Overview:
 

 The Accountant will drive the accuracy of the organization’s financial records and raise the accounting profile of the organization amongst auditors and grant oversight agencies. This individual will play a vital part in the financial records of the organization and will ensure that the budget feeds into operational activities. Working with the management team, the position also contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices. This position will also interact with the Executive Director.

Responsibilities of Accountant:
  • Negotiate cost and develop strong working relationships with vendors
  • Attend and represent the organization at relevant networking events and act as a fundraising ambassador 
  • Keep abreast of developments, changes in trends/patterns, new techniques and legislation
  • Report income and performance against targets on a monthly basis
  • Ensure planned activities are compliant with relevant charity law, other legislation, best practice and corporate policy
  • Develop and lead on one-off projects relevant to fundraising and marketing
  • Answer procedural questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
  • Comply with federal, state and local financial legal requirements by studying existing plus new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential
  • Manage receipts for purchases and cash disbursements
  • Generate bi-weekly payroll based upon the payroll schedule
  • Invoicing as necessary for grants and other business transactions
  • Process all vendor payments
  • Effectively manage and apply all financial regulations and guidelines as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements of Accountant:
  • Degree preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
  • Ability to stick to time constraints
  • Strong Excel and computer skills 
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks desktop
