Position Summary:

We’re an international nonprofit focused on humanitarian and development work. We’re currently looking for a Human Resources Administrator for our HQ office in Alexandria. This individual will perform HR-related duties on a professional level and will work closely with the Business Operations Manager in supporting corporate and international personnel. 

Responsibilities of the Human Resources Administrator:

  • Assist with administering various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and updating of policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual

  • Assist with accounting functions such as payroll and AP processing

  • Assist with employee relations matters including diagnosing problems, determining appropriate level of corrective action, coaching mangers, and reviewing corrective action documentation to mitigate risk and minimize legal action

  • Assist with maintaining human resource information system records and compiles reports

  • Assist with the development and delivery of New Hire Orientation

  • Assist with Career Development and annual review process

  • Assist with filing EEO-1, Vet-100, and OSHA reporting annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to regulations

  • Assist with benefits administration to include enrollments and terminations, annual open enrollment, approving invoices for payment, claims resolution, and communicating benefit information to employees

  • Assist employee out-processing and exit interviewing

  • Assist with salary surveys and research wage and salary data

Qualifications of the Human Resources Administrator:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Understanding of payroll practices, labor law, and employment guidelines

  • 3+ year of HR experience and administrative experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Oracle, ADP, Deltek, or Salesforce experience are a plus

  • Ability to perform under pressure

  • Knowledge of government procurement and grant processes

  • Have an understanding of basic HR laws and compliance requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, resolve problems and recommend solutions

  • Self-motivated with the ability to complete assigned tasks with little supervision
