Responsibilities of the HR Generalist:

  • Provides talent acquisition support, creates and posts requisitions, coordinates telephone, video, and in person interviews, greets candidates, coordinates offers, initiates background checks, and communicates updates to candidates, agencies, and hiring managers
  • Administers the following benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, group medical, dental and vision plans; health savings account (HSA); life, AD&D, and disability plans; employee assistance plan; supplemental benefit plans; medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts (FSA)
  • Maintains the Performance Management System by adding and updating profiles, training managers and staff in the use of the system, assisting managers in the addition of goals, adding new reviews, and overseeing the overall schedule and process
  • Ensures that the internal staff are provided with training resources, which includes scheduling in-office training sessions for the entire office, individual groups, teams, and/or divisions
  • Plans and oversees staff appreciation events and milestones
  • Works with new staff to provide on-boarding and orientation
  • Supports the VP and the Payroll & Accounting Supervisor with respect to bi-weekly payroll, working with ADP on payroll issues, benefits reporting, and required year-end and audit reporting

Qualifications of the HR Generalist:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, a Human Resources major or concentration is desired.  SHRM certification is a plus
  • 1-3 years of previous experience in Human Resource work including: policies, payroll and compensation, benefits, performance management programs, recruitment, and training. 
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: ability to handle sensitive employee situations effectively, to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion, and to build trusting relationships with staff at all levels of the organization
  • Extreme focus on organization, accuracy, and time management
  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to operate effectively in an environment of multiple and shifting priorities, high urgency, and tight deadlines
