Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized Compensation and Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources team on a temporary basis. In this role, you will play a key part in administering, analyzing, and maintaining our compensation and benefits programs to ensure they are competitive, compliant, and aligned with our overall HR strategy. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, an employee-focused mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Compensation Administration
  • Support the administration of annual compensation processes, including merit reviews, incentive plans, and payroll coordination.
  • Prepare compensation reports and analysis to inform HR and business leaders.
    Maintain accurate compensation data and ensure timely execution of pay-related actions.
Benefits Administration
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), etc.).
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, providing clear and timely communication.
  • Coordinate open enrollment, manage benefits changes, and update employee-facing benefits materials.
  • Partner with vendors and brokers to ensure high-quality plan design and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations (e.g., ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA).
  • Reconcile benefits invoices and resolve discrepancies with carriers.
HR Projects and Employee Support
  • Lead or support special HR projects related to compensation and benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues and internal stakeholders to provide an excellent employee experience.
  • Monitor employee feedback and identify opportunities for benefits enhancements or process improvements.

Compliance & Reporting
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and external reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and support government filings and benefits reporting (e.g., Form 5500, ACA reporting).
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records related to pay and benefits.
Program Analysis and Process Improvement
  • Conduct audits and assessments of compensation and benefits data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of programs and recommend improvements that support recruitment, retention, and employee satisfaction.
  • Stay current with industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in compensation and/or benefits administration.
  • Strong understanding of compensation principles, market benchmarking, and job evaluation.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits programs and related regulations (e.g., ACA, ERISA, COBRA).
  • Experience using HRIS systems (e.g., ADP) and proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex information understandably.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
