Overview: 

We are seeking a driven, detail-oriented Government Affairs Associate to join our team.
This is an entry-level position designed for individuals eager to dive into the world of
government relations. The Associate will support senior lobbyists by tracking
legislation, conducting policy research, attending hearings, and preparing advocacy
materials. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a career in advocacy and
directly contribute to shaping policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legislative Tracking: Monitor state and federal legislation, regulatory actions, and committee hearings related to client interests.
  • Travel to state legislatures and regulatory venues as needed to attend, monitor, and provide testimony at committee hearings, stakeholder meetings, and public forums.
  • Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on policy issues and analyze the impact of proposed legislation.
  • Drafting Materials: Prepare backgrounders, one-pagers, briefing memos, and draft letters to members of Congress or state officials.
  • Hill/Agency Outreach: Assist in scheduling meetings with state and federal congressional staffers and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Communications, or related field.
  • Experience: 0–5 years of experience in a congressional office, state legislature, trade association, or policy-focused internship.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to distill complex information into concise talking points.
  • Strong interest in the legislative process and proactive desire to learn the fundamentals of lobbying.
