We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations in a professional office environment. This part-time position involves processing invoices, payments, and reimbursements, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting general accounting and administrative functions. The position has the potential to grow into a long-term or full-time opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and process vendor invoices with supporting documentation
- Enter and manage bills using an accounts payable platform (e.g., Bill.com)
- Reconcile and import monthly credit card charges and statements
- Handle monthly reimbursement processing
- Prepare and deposit checks; create and apply accounts receivable invoices and payments
- Process donations and other payments via credit card, check, and ACH
- Maintain accurate transaction records in financial and donor management systems (e.g., Nimble)
- Communicate with vendors regarding documentation or invoice discrepancies
- Assist with other general accounting duties and special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Coursework or basic experience in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
