Responsibilities of Data Center Assistant:
- Perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting as needed, as part of data center renovation and transformation projects.
- Focus primarily on decommissioning projects, such as removing data center cabinets, low-voltage cabling, ladder racking, cable trays, servers, and other miscellaneous equipment (no electrical work required).
- Support data center fit-ups, including aisle containment installations, conveyance systems, and row build-outs.
- Assist with additional projects, such as battery replacements and upgrades, as needed.
- Deliver exceptional service to clients and maintain high standards of professionalism and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and authorized to work in the United States
- Team player mentality and possesses a positive attitude
- Previous experience in the data center industry or a similar technical field.
- Hands-on experience with aisle containment installations, fit-up work, and related projects.
- Strong knowledge of cabling systems, including fiber optics and Cat5/Cat6 cabling, as well as a basic understanding of Internet infrastructure and network processes.
- Proficiency in laptop/computer skills, including typing and data entry, with the ability to document tasks and projects accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Travel required, location can range from Sterling VA to Elkridge, MD
