We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to help keep a school campus, facilities, equipment, and infrastructure safe, functional, and well maintained. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with tools, troubleshooting issues, and tackling a variety of maintenance projects throughout the day.
Working under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Technician will perform routine and preventive maintenance, building repairs, basic plumbing and electrical work, painting, carpentry, landscaping, and general facility upkeep. The role also supports school events by setting up tables, chairs, equipment, and other materials.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance throughout the school campus
- Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building repairs
- Repair and maintain doors, windows, floors, drywall, woodwork, roofs, and other building components
- Perform landscaping, grass cutting, snow removal, and other exterior maintenance as needed
- Assemble, install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and machinery
- Replace light bulbs and address general facility maintenance needs
- Use hand tools, power tools, drills, table saws, ladders, and other maintenance equipment safely and appropriately
- Set up and break down tables, chairs, equipment, and other materials for school events
- Inspect facilities and equipment, identify maintenance needs, and help resolve issues
- Communicate with the Facilities Director and other staff regarding maintenance needs and completed work
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and helpful presence when interacting with students, staff, parents, and visitors
- Complete required training and use basic computer systems for communication and documentation
- Perform other maintenance and facilities-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of maintenance, facilities, building maintenance, or related hands-on experience
- Knowledge of basic hand and power tools and their proper use
- Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, or general building repairs
- Ability to read instructions, troubleshoot problems, evaluate solutions, and work independently
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Professional, courteous, and dependable when working around students, staff, parents, and visitors
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete required training
- Comfortable working in an active, hands-on environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to spend extended periods walking, standing, and working throughout the campus
- Ability to carry and use tools, equipment, and ladders, including accessing roofs when necessary
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable performing physical maintenance tasks, including moving equipment and materials
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as needed
