Responsibilities of the Collections Associate:
- Monitors and reviews overdraft reports daily
- Works with customers and third-party collections agencies. Brings major issues or concerns to the attention of the Collections Manager
- Maintains accurate files, notes, and reports on all collections activities. Responds to consumer disputes from Credit Bureau Agencies to ensure proper reporting of account activity
- Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to bring current
- Analyzes the financial situation of delinquent borrowers to determine possible modifications due to hardship. Collects on returned checks, delinquent property, taxes, and negative shares-- freezing shares as required. Submits delinquency loan activity for supervisor
- Understands basic bankruptcy and garnishment laws. Logs new bankruptcy cases and bank attachments per procedures
- Gathers information on delinquent loan activity for Collections Manager. Prepares a variety of reports, and recommends policy and procedure updates as needed, and to ensure compliance with regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements of the Collections Associate:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- One to two years of previous collections experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of banking products, services, policies, and procedures
- Previous telephone customer service experience
- Excellent oral, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Tech-savvy including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
